Name: Shawna Harris
Role: Grade 5
Credentials: Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies; Seventh-day Adventist Standard Certificate (K-8); and working towards a Masters of Arts in Administration and Leadership.
After graduating from La Sierra University, I began my teaching career in East Los Angeles. Most of my career was at Redlands Adventist Academy where I taught grades 5, 6 and 8. The last couple years at RAA I served as their K-12 vice principal. Beyond classroom teaching, I found it rewarding to be a Master Teacher for La Sierra University students who were doing their student teaching.
I enjoying training for 1/2 marathons with my running partners although sometimes I like the solitude of running alone. In the winter I ski and snowshoe. Summer is full of outdoor activities and I especially enjoy time on the water. I relax by having meals with friends, traveling and spending time with my family.
I am extremely excited to begin teaching at Palisades Christian Academy. Math and science are two of my favorite subjects to teach and explore with my students.
My Educational Philosophy:
I believe that every child is created in the likeness of God, and as such is to be respected and appreciated for his or her unique strengths. I will cultivate these gifts through my strong commitment to education, creating the possibility of all students being successful.
