I cannot tell you how excited I am to be teaching grades 7 and 8 at Palisades Christian Academy. I love working with young people and I am inspired by their passion for life. I believe that excellent teachers are also excellent learners and I am honored to have the opportunity to learn from my students every day. Ellen White describes education as “the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers” and I like to challenge my students to grow in each of these areas. My deepest desire is to come alongside young people and encourage them in their relationship with and passion for God.
When asked where I am from, I cannot name just a single place as the answer. I was born in California and spent my early childhood years in the Sacramento area. At the age of nine, I moved with my family to Hong Kong where we served as missionaries for six years. My high school and college school years were spent in the beautiful Walla Walla Valley and my summers were spent working at Camp MiVoden. After college, I moved to Hayden, Idaho, which is where I met and married my husband, Matthew. I am excited about the opportunity to now be from Spokane and look forward to joining God in His work here.
I think of life as an adventure filled with all kinds of opportunities to live and to learn. One of my favorite ways to do this is through travel, which has taken me to all fifty states and to six continents. In my free time, my favorite things to do are run, read, play piano or guitar, and organize. My favorite recreational activities include backpacking, rock climbing, playing volleyball and racquetball, sailing, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking. My favorite word is “amazing” because this word expresses the excitement and wonder that I find to be so valuable in life. I have a lot of “favorite things” that I enjoy, but God is my all-time favorite and it is my greatest desire to live my life for His glory.
